IELTS SPEAKING · UMBERROOK SIMULATION

Face the examinerbefore it counts.

A realistic IELTS-style speaking interview with a lifelike AI examiner — spoken live, under real pressure, with structured estimated feedback afterwards.

Independent practice software. Sessions are IELTS-style practice — never the official test.

A silent preview of an UmberRook practice session. A lifelike AI examiner asks: “Let’s talk about where you live. What do you like most about your hometown?” The room listens while the candidate answers, then the examiner continues: “And is that something you appreciated as a child, too?” The candidate’s scripted answer — “I think so — the parks especially. Even in winter people meet there, and the city feels smaller than it really is.” — appears as text, the examiner says “Thank you. Let’s move on.” and a small panel shows the shape of the estimated practice feedback. This is an illustration with scripted demo data. No microphone is used and no sound plays unless you press the hear-the-conversation button.

THE EXPERIENCE

It feels like the real thing.

  1. 01 · THE EXAMINER ASKS

    Step 1: The examiner asks.

A lifelike AI examiner with a face, a voice and a pace. The interview follows a fixed plan — no model invents or reorders a question, and nothing advances until you are ready.

  2. 02 · YOU ANSWER

Step 2: You answer. Out loud.

You start and finish every answer yourself, live, while the clock runs. Your words are transcribed as you speak — there is nothing to type and nowhere to hide.

  3. 03 · THE REVIEW

Step 3: UmberRook reviews your performance.

After the session ends, your answers are reviewed against the questions you were actually asked — what you said, how it held together, and where it thinned out.

  4. 04 · THE REPORT

Step 4: You discover what to improve.

A structured report with estimated practice bands, observations that quote your own words, and a clear next step for the next session.

  • A next step

WHAT THIS IS, PLAINLY

Independent software. An AI examiner. Estimated feedback.

Independent. UmberRook is practice software. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the British Council, IDP Education, or Cambridge Assessment English, and sessions are IELTS-style practice — never the official test.

AI, and it says so.The examiner’s face and voice are AI-generated, the question plan is fixed before your session begins, and your camera is never used.

Estimated, always. Feedback and bands are practice estimates for improvement, not predictions or guarantees of any real-world result.

QUESTIONS

Asked before you ask.

Is this affiliated with the official IELTS test?

No. UmberRook is an independent practice platform. UmberRook is not affiliated with or endorsed by the British Council, IDP, or Cambridge Assessment English. Sessions are IELTS-style practice, and feedback is always an estimate for practice — never an official score.

What do I need to run a session?

A phone or a laptop, a quiet room, and a working microphone. A short guided check before each session confirms you can be heard. Your camera is never used.

How do credits work?

One credit is one started minute of live conversation, rounded up. A Full Mock reserves 15 credits and a Pressure Test reserves 3; whatever you don't use is released when the session settles.

Who is speaking to me?

The examiner is an animated avatar with a synthetic voice. You are not speaking to a person, and nobody is listening live. The question plan is fixed before your session begins, and nothing advances until you're ready.

Is my voice recorded?

Your recording is stored temporarily in private, non-public storage and sent to our transcription provider to turn it into text. We delete it after transcription; if that deletion does not succeed, automated cleanup retries it. We keep the text of your answers as part of your practice history, not the audio. You can download everything we hold about you at any time from your account, and delete your account and practice history yourself from your billing page. If you would rather email us, we will do it for you.

Will this improve my score?

It gives you structured practice and specific, evidence-tied feedback — the conditions improvement needs. What happens in a real examination is yours alone; no honest product promises that result, and this one doesn't.
